Linda M. Clements Age 89 Caspian, MI Died Friday, August 26, 2011 at the Iron County Medical Care Facility, Crystal Falls, MI She was born November 2, 1921, daughter of Fortunato and Maria (Albasini) Conta. She attended the Stambaugh schools, graduating from Stambaugh High School and graduated with the Class of 1939. She then went to Detroit and enrolled in the School of Cosmatology. In December of 1940 she returned home and was employed at Hyacinth's Beauty Shop in Stambaugh until her marriage. On February 7, 1942 she married Francis Clements of Gaastra. They celebrated their Golden Anniversary in 1992. Francis preceded her in death on November 7, 1995. Linda was employed for many years as a clerk at Schinella's Grocery until it was destroyed by fire in March of 1973. She then went to work as a teller at the former Iron Savings and Loan until her retirement in 1983. She was an active member of the former St. Mary's Catholic Church of Gaastra and later at St. Cecilia Catholic Church of Caspian, where she was a member of St. Ann's Society and also the Auxiliary of the Legion of Mary. She belonged to the local AARP chapter where she had served as treasurer. She was a kind, compassionate person who enjoyed sending cards to family and friends for whatever occasion. She also enjoyed playing cards. Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brothers, Adolph Conta and Angelo Berganini. She is survived by her nieces, Mary Ann (Marvin) Dexter of Northbrook, IL Shirley (Jules) Freedman of Cincinnati, OH Special friend and sister-in-law, Germaine (Gerald) Stromberg of Gaastra Many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends Visitation: Wednesday, August 31, 2011 from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River. Funeral Service: Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Caspian with Deacon Robert Kostka to officiate. The ladies of St. Ann's Society will form an honor guard at the service. Interment: Stambaugh Cemetery, Iron River Funeral arrangements by the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River.
