Melvin T. Greenlund Age 87 Iron River, MIDied Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at the Iron River Care Center. Born: May 18, 1923 in Stambaugh, MI The son of the late Charles and Phoebe (Erickson) Greenlund attended the Stambaugh Schools, graduating from Stambaugh High School in 1941. He was employed as a miner for the M. A. Hanna Mining Company at the Hiawatha Mine for 25 years. Melvin married the former Marie B. Stebbins on September 20, 1947 in Iron River and the couple made their home in Stambaugh. Melvin was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church of Iron River and a member of the choir. He had a wonderful voice and enjoyed singing with his close friend, Bill Harris in the Northland Chorus, the Carrie Jacobs Bond Singers and the Iron County Historical Museum programs. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and agate picker on the shores of Lake Superior. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Carl, Jack, Norman, Robert, Calvin and Clifford and sisters, Bernice, Joyce, Phyllis, Sylvia and Thelma. He is survived by his wife, Marie Son, Brian (Ellen) Greenlund of Pulaski, WI Two grandchildren, Derek and Danielle Nieces, nephews and extended family Visitation: Wednesday, December 22, 2010 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River. Funeral Service: Thursday, December 23, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the Wesley United Methodist Church , Iron River, with Pastor Bobbie Willson to officiate.
