Louis "Louie" P. Fantini Age 91 Iron River, MIDied Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at Northstar Health System, Iron River. Born: August 8, 1919 in Calumet, MI The son of the late Peter and Theresa (Barinotti) Fantini attended the Calumet schools and graduated. He then attended State Police School in Lansing, MI and served as a Michigan State Police Officer for 28 years. He served as the First Commander of the Iron River Post, arriving in 1965, and retired from service in 1969. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, serving in the North African and the European Military Campaign supporting the Allied Forces in Italy. Louie married the former Florence Wilkinson on April 12, 1943 in Medford, OR, and she preceded him in death. He loved gardening, collecting antique bottles, and spending time with family and friends. He was also preceded in death by his brother Angelo Fantini. He is survived by two sons; Gerald (Dottie) Fantini of Durand, MI Robert (Bonnie) Fantini of McKinney, TX One daughter, Susanne "Sue" Fantini of Iron River One sister, Angeline Ozga of St. Petersburg, FL Seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren Visitation: Saturday, December 4, 2010 from 1:30 to 2:15 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River. Funeral Services: Saturday. December 4, 2010 at 2:30 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River with Jerome Frandle to officiate. Michigan State Police Officers will attend the visitation and funeral service.
