Kent Dunlap

Kent W. Dunlap Age 73 Iron River, MIDied Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at Northstar Health System, Iron River. Born: September 16, 1937 in Moline, IL The son of the late Andrew Louis and Marion (Little) Dunlap graduated from Moline High School. He then attended Augustana College. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. Kent married the former Carolyn Henriksen on July 9, 1960 at the Bethany Lutheran Church of Beechwood, MI. They celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 2010. Kent was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Iron River, where he sang in the choir and served on the First Lutheran Church Council. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge, AMVETS Post #436 and VFW Ottawa Post #3134.. He served on the Veterans Council and as secretary of the Beechwood Historical Society. Kent enjoyed cross country skiing, golfing, running marathons, fishing and woodworking. He loved music and spending time in his flower garden and especially loved his dog, Sparky. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Son, Kirk (Megan) Dunlap of Birmingham, MI Daughters; Krista Gussert (Gary Friestrom) of Quinnesec, MI Kim Dunlap (Mike Madosh) of Marquette, MI Brother, Jack (Joanne) Dunlap of Moline, IL Seven grandchildren; Jill, Luke, Brita and Greta VanOsdol Molly and Ryan Dunlap and Sam Gussert Visitation: Friday, April 1, 2011 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church of Iron River. Funeral Service: Friday, April 1, 2011 at 2 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church, Iron River, with Rev. Bonny Kinnunen to officiate. Interment: Rosehill Cemetery, BeechwoodThe West Side Veterans will accord Military Rites at the graveside service in the spring.
