John J. Zinger Age 66 (Bates Township) Iron River, MIThe Lord took his hand on Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at his home. Born: November 13, 1944 in Marion, MI The son of Russell and Anna (Medendorp) Zinger attended the Marion Public Schools. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving in Germany. He was a retiree of General Motors. John married the former Cindy North on April 21, 1973 in Traverse City, MI. The couple moved to the Iron River area in 1983 and made their home in Bates Township. They celebrated their 37th wedding anniversary this year. John was a member of Iron River Community Church of the Nazarene, with a Local Pastor's License, presented with a distinguished Serve Award, serving on the Church Board, and as a Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, and Song Leader. He was also a member of the VFW Ottawa Post # 3134 and the United Auto Workers Local 652, and served as a Fair Board Night Watchman. He enjoyed his "Holiday coffee clutch", tractor pulls, farming, and spending time with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother Jerry Zinger, but survived by his wife Sandra of Nashville, MI. He is survived by his wife, Cindy Sons; John J. Funeral Service: Sunday, November 21, 2010 at 1 p.m. at the Iron River Community Church of the Nazarene, Iron River, with Rev.
