Henry J. Comienski Age 88 Caspian, MI Died Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at Northstar Health Services, Iron River. Borne December 3, 1921 in Gaastra, MI The son of the late John and Sophie Comienski attended the Gaastra Schools. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, serving in the Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe Campaigns. Henry married the former Mayme Nurmi on January 19, 1944 at St. Mary's Parish of Gaastra. He was employed as a truck driver for the Iron County Road Commission for over 20 years. He was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church of Caspian, Disabled American Veterans, VFW Ottawa Post #3134, and American Legion Alfred Branchini Post #21. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mayme and two sisters, Julia and Florence. He is survived by his daughter, Dorothy (Ralph) Mathison of Louisville, KY Brothers; John Comienski of Iron River Zigmund Comienski of Iron River Sister, Helen Mallo of Los Angeles, CA Two grandchildren and three great grandchildren Visitation: Monday, December 6, 2010 from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River Funeral Service: Monday, December 6, 2010 at 11a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River, with Rev. Norman Clisch to officiate.The West Side Veterans will accord Military Rites at the service.
