Mrs. Fances W. Baker Age 85 Iron River, MI Passed away Saturday, February 16, 2007 at Iron County Community Hospital, Iron River, MI. Born May 10, 1921 in Painsdale, MI Frances was the daughter of the late Uno and Maria (Bjorkquist) Kumenius. She moved to the Bates area as a young child with her parents and attended the Bates (Rogers) School and the Iron River High School, graduating in 1938. On January 16, 1943, she married Edmond Baker at the parsonage of the First Covenant Church in Stambaugh, MI. The couple celebrated their 64th Wedding Anniversary in January of this year. Her employment included Newberry's Store, and insurance office, the Miners State Bank, and the State of Michigan, from which she retired in 1982. Frances was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Stambaugh for 52 years and was also a member of Sara's Circle. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Harold, William, and Rudolph, and two sisters, Florence Greenlund and Elarnor Krugness.
