Alice Butorac

Alice C. Butorac Age 85 Iron River, MIPassed away Sunday, May 29, 2011 at the Iron River Care Center. Born: September 26, 1925 in Brainerd, MN The daughter of Paul Picard and Caroline (Braun) DeMint attended the Brainerd Schools, graduating from Washington High School in 1943. Alice married Matt Butorac on July 6, 1946 in Brainerd, MN and the couple moved from Crosby, MN to the Iron River area in 1966 to make their home. They celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary in 2010. Alice was employed as a sales clerk for many years prior to her retirement in 1985. She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church of Iron River, the Rosary Sodality, St. Agnes Guild, and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, cooking, traveling and especially spending time with her family. Throughout the years, Alice knit many dishcloths and mittens, many of which she donated. She visited Alaska, California, Florida, New Orleans, Louisiana, and enjoyed a Caribbean cruise with old friends in her travels. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and two sisters. She is survived by her husband, Matt Sons; Martin (Kathleen) Butorac of Richfield, WI Matthew (Mary Jane) Butorac of Palm Springs, CA Daughters; Mary (Gary) Shepich of Plainwell, MI Barbara (Larry) Eastham of Soldotna, AK Paula (Roger) Thomas of Satellite Beach, FL Eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren Visitation: Friday, June 3, 2011 from 12:00 noon to 1:45 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River. Funeral Service: Friday, June 3, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Iron River, with Rev. George Maki to offer the Mass of Christian Burial.The Ladies of the Rosary Sodality will form an Honor Guard at the funeral.
