Roland W. Lambert "Jolly Rolly" Age 87 Long Lake, WIDied Sunday, March 27, 2011 at the Oscar G. Johnson Medical Center, Iron Mountain, MI. Born: August 30, 1923 in Fond Du Lac, WI He was the son of the late David and Louise (Heathe) Lambert. Roland was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, serving in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe and fought at the Battle of the Bulge with great fortitude. He was awarded the European - African - Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with 4 Bronze Stars. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the American Legion. Jolly was an avid Packer, Brewer and Badger fan and enjoyed watching the birds, deer, turkeys and bear in his yard. Memories of Jolly will always bring a smile; his love of John Wayne movies, his plate collection and other memorabilia of the "Duke" proudly displayed throughout his house, his pot belly pig, Buttercup, to name a few. Jolly was preceded in death by three faithful pets, beagles Molly and Dolly and Tommy the Cat. He is survived by his son, Roy Lambert of Alaska One daughter; Mary Jorgensen of Oregon Two stepdaughters Kathy (Robert) Stevens of Iron River, MI Colleen (David) Reidl of Arizona One brother, Vain Lambert Three sisters; Betty, Nancy and Gladys Many Grandchildren Roland was a beloved friend for many years of Bonnie and Jim Lewis and a dear companion to caregivers Karen McMullen and Barb Gilligan. Visitation: Saturday, April 2, 2011 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River. Funeral Service: Saturday, April 2, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River, with Deacon Robert Kostka to officiate.American Legion Sylvan Post #44 will accord Military Rites at the service.
