Angelo J. Margoni Age 94 Caspian, MIdied Saturday January 1, 2011 at his daughter's home in New Bern, North Carolina. Born: November 12, 1916, Caspian, MI The son of the late Max and Alice (Tessadri) Margoni attended the Caspian and Stambaugh schools, graduating in 1934. He also attended the Kaye Forestry school. He was in the CCC's for three years prior to entering the U.S. Army, serving during WW-II where he earned a bronze star medal for meritorious achievement in the Mediterranean theatre of operations. On June 7, 1941, he married the former Alice Maki in Crystal Falls and the couple made their home in Caspian. They celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 1991; she preceded him in death on June 30, 1993. He was employed by Chicago-Northwestern Railroad until his retirement in 1980. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church. His family remembers him as a caring, generous, honest, and hard-working father/grandfather. While he was busy working on the railroad he would take side jobs as a carpenter, cutting wood, etc. He liked to cook, dance, and enjoyed talking about his Italian heritage and relatives he visited in Italy. His grandchildren remember him always having time for them, and serving as a good role model and how well he took care of grandma when she was sick. He took them out looking for deer, let them help with his garden, and made them the best apple fritters for breakfast. He especially enjoyed sharing a Riverside pizza with the family, but was always encouraged to make his Italian dressing and garden salad for everyone. Although many have tried, there's only a few that could come close to make the dressing as good as grampa. We'll miss you dad/grandpa.
